Our owner and founder, Michael will always be remembered for his emphasis on accessible management and excellent customer service. His legacy lives on at ISL in all those inspired by his determination and leadership.
Aysha and her husband, Michael, started ISL with joint resources in 1997, as she transitioned from 23 years in commercial banking. She credits “good support systems” for the company’s longevity. Under her watch, ISL has grown from a 5-person operation to a staff of 75.
Curtis joined ISL in mid-2019 after spending most of his career in retail and financial services. He brings corporate structure and discipline to the shipping business. High on his list of priorities is using ISL services to make clients more productive and efficient. He is also focused on customer engagement strategies.
Shivana has been at ISL for 14 years and imbibed her father’s philosophy of making senior staff as accessible to clients as possible. “Dad (Michael) was opposed to robotic things,” she says. “He was focused on the personal touch.”
Christian began working part-time at his parents’ then-fledgling shipping company in 2003. He emphasizes that ISL is one of a handful of T&T companies that owns and operates warehouses and offices in T&T and the United States. His portfolio of Projects and Large Commercial business continues to be a major part of ISL business.
Martha has been in shipping since 2000 and joined ISL in 2010. She strives to make great impressions on customers in the hope of building long-term relationships.
Jamilah comes from a Sales and Marketing and Warehousing background. Working for a close-knit family business has encouraged her to focus on customer needs and operational efficiency.
Dianne has been at ISL’s Miami office since it opened in 2015. She says having a US presence gives ISL full control over customer cargo, allowing the company to supervise shipments all the way to their destinations with the utmost care.
Leela, a former administrative assistant with large retailers, joined ISL in January 2001. She notes that ISL’s prices are competitive and match the company’s “superior and friendly service”.
In her 5 years at ISL, Sharon has embraced the challenge of helping clients avoid unnecessary charges by clearing project shipments before rent and demurrage are incurred. “It’s challenging,” she admits, “but very gratifying.”
Cadine started on the Demurrage Department Desk and worked her way up to the top of the CSR Department. She has been at ISL for 14 years and enjoys finding innovative solutions to customer concerns.
