Guyana’s economy is one of the fastest growing in the world right now, powered by significant oil revenues and an infrastructure boom that is transforming the country. Demand for reliable, efficient freight into Georgetown has never been higher. Until recently however, the facilities available for handling imported LCL cargo in Guyana have not kept pace with that growth. For businesses moving LCL cargo into the country, the options have been limited and the handling experience has left a lot to be desired.
The new facility raises the bar considerably. One of the most significant improvements is the introduction of dock height offloading. In most developed logistics markets this is standard practice. A container backs directly into the warehouse at floor level, allowing forklifts to drive straight in and offload cargo quickly and safely. Previously in Guyana, containers had to be lifted off trailers and grounded before being offloaded, a slower process that added time and increased the risk of handling delays. The new facility removes that bottleneck entirely.
Add to that – customs clearance on site, a modern purpose-built warehouse environment and a location away from the congestion of central Georgetown, and the difference in speed and service quality is significant.
SL’s Miami to Guyana LCL service runs in collaboration with our US logistics partner, who we share a Miami presence. Together we co-load containers on a regular schedule, with departures every week. Your cargo is consolidated in Miami, shipped to Guyana and delivered to this brand new bonded warehouse for clearance and onward delivery by ISL’s local team in Georgetown.
